What's in a pipeline?



The City of Big Bear Lake is preparing for a busy construction season as they will be undertaking infrastructure updates to improve reliability and fire protection for Big Bear Valley Communities. At the March board meeting, the agency awarded contracts for pipeline replacement projects in the amount of $2.9 million.


The biggest project is the Erwin Lake area pipeline replacement, which includes 1,100 feet of new 12-inch PVC or DIP main, and 2,050 feet of new 8-inch PVC or DIP main in the rights-of-way of 4th, 6th and 8th Lanes, as well as Division Drive from 300 fee north of Big Bear Blvd to North Shore Drive. The project, which is expected to begin in June and be completed by October 15, was awarded to Borden Excavating, Inc for $1,264,500.


The second project is the Wolf Pipeline Replacement Project, which involves replacing pipelines in the Moonridge area within the rights-of-way of Wolf Road, Luna Road, Sheephorn Road, Siskiyou Drive, Buffalo Trail, and Club View Drive. Apple Valley Construction was the successful bidder for this project, which is also slated to begin in June and be completed by October 15.The Department of Interior - Bureau of Reclamation will be funding 50% of the project.
