Things you need to know about Big Bear Ski Resorts.

Updated: Feb 12, 2023

Big Bear Lake, California is a great winter destination for skiing and snowboarding. Located in the San Bernardino Mountains, Big Bear Lake offers some of the best ski resorts in Southern California. With its beautiful mountain scenery and nearby lake, it is easy to see why this resort town has become so popular with skiers and snowboarders from all over the country.

At Big Bear Mountain Resort, you can find two mountainside ski areas - Snow Summit Ski Resort and Bear Mountain Ski Area. Both offer a variety of slopes that cater to different skill levels; beginner, intermediate or advanced skiers will be able to find something suitable for them at either location. The ticket prices vary depending on your choice of day pass or night pass but range between $50-80 per person per day (pricing may change during certain holidays). There are also packages available that include rental equipment such as skis or snowboards if needed. The hours of operation vary depending on seasonality but generally run from 9am-4pm Monday through Friday with extended hours later into the evening during weekends and holiday periods (Christmas/New Year’s Eve etc.). For convenience purposes there are parking lots located near each ski area where visitors can park their cars without having to worry about finding street parking – although these do have an hourly fee associated which ranges from $10-$20 depending on length of stay. In addition to skiing/snowboarding at both Snow Summit Ski Resort & Bear Mountain Ski Area there are plenty other activities for those looking for alternative things to do in Big Bear Lake during the winter months including: sledding/tubing down local hillsides; ice skating at nearby Santa's Village; taking part in interactive activities such as snowshoe hikes or cross-country skiing; going on horseback rides around local trails; trying out one of many restaurants located within walking distance from either ski resort; visiting one of several museums located throughout town; shopping downtown amongst local stores & boutiques etc.. Overall, Big Bear Lake makes for a great winter getaway whether you're looking specifically for skiing/snowboarding options or just want some fun outdoor activities while escaping city life! With reasonably priced tickets combined with endless entertainment possibilities, it definitely won't disappoint.
